Hendrick Motorsports Complex

Are you a motorsport fan? Then it’s a must that you pay a visit to the Hendrick Motorsports Complex located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hendrick Motorsports was founded by the legendary Rick Hendrick. True motorsport enthusiasts know who Hendrick is for sure. But for those who are too young to remember, Hendrick is a successful race team owner, businessman, and philanthropist. When he founded his organization in 1984, he only had one car, five employees, and a small space.

But he was able to build his company and it eventually became one of the best NASCAR teams. They won more than 200 Cup Series races and became champions ten times. Hendrick Motorsport had some of the best drivers in motorsport history. These include Geoff Bodine, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte, Mark Martin, Casey Mears, Benny Parsons, Tim Richmond, Ricky Rudd, Ken Schrader, Brian Vickers, Darrell Waltrip.

Success didn’t come easy for Hendrick. He had to overcome plenty of challenges before he eventually tasted success. Later in his life, he also developed leukemia. This led him to establish the Hendrick Marrow Program. It works closely with the Match Foundation in supporting the National Marrow Donor Program. For his efforts in helping people with leukemia, he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 1996.

If you want to know more about Hendrick and the organization that he built, then the best way to do it is to visit the Hendrick Motorsports Complex. It certainly beats reading a book or watching a film. When you go there, you’ll also learn a lot about the history of motorsport. It’s also a good place to take the kids. They will learn a lot from the place, especially in the technical section. They will learn about how cars and motors work. They will get to know the different parts of the car and their functions. Be sure to reserve half of your day at least when you visit because there are many things to see in the museum and race shop.

But the place is definitely made for motorsport fans. If you’re a big fan of cars and racing then you’ll be excited to know that the place houses the original cars that made history. For example, you’ll see there the car that Jeff Gordon drove when he first joined the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Gordon was just 23 back then. The museum also proudly displays other cars that were driven by Gordon who is a legendary driver. He is tied with Michael Schumacher for having the most wins at the track with five each. But Gordon’s feat is more impressive since it’s more challenging to win at a speedway because of the number of competitors involved in the race.

There are many other notable cars that you can see inside the museum. There’s the car that marked the 200th Cup Victory of Hendrick Motorsports. It was driven by Jimmie Johnson Darlington. You can also see the car from the movie Days of Thunder. One of the more interesting exhibits is the “exploded car.” It’s an innovative way to show the different parts of a car that is being used in a 200 mph NASCAR race. There’s also a section dedicated to different helmets and fire suits to signify the importance of safety in a car race.

You can also see 1:24th replicas of all the cars that raced for Hendrick Motorsports. You can also see a body of a dissected Chevrolet SS being lowered on the chassis. You can also get a feel of how teams prepare for a race through the viewing area of the race shop. But the museum won’t be complete, of course, without a display of all of the trophies that the organization has won. After all, the museum is partly a tribute to honor the successes of the organization. And if you do get hungry from viewing all of the exhibits, then you can just go to the snack area. You can also bring home some souvenirs from the gift shop where you can buy apparel and other memorabilia.

Hendrick Motorsports Complex is located in Concord, North Carolina, just a mile away from the Charlotte Speedway.
